The search is on for the Essex Young Musician of the year, the first of the new millennium.
For the past 17 years the competition has been organised by the Ongar Music Club and every winner so far has made a career in music.
The competition will be judged by musicians from London orchestras or other recognised authorities and the panel will be chaired by the pianist John Lill OBE.
Entrants must be under the age of 25 at the start of the competition on July 1.
For an application form, which must be returned by May 31, contact Jean Hall on 01277 899337.
