A big crowd is expected at Great Wakering Rovers' Burroughs Park home tonight as the village side attempt to move into joint leadership of the Ryman League Third Division.

For the visitors tonight will be a major attraction as Hertford Town are now being managed by ex-Spurs and England defensive star Graham Roberts.

Roberts has a wealth of managerial experience at Nationwide Conference and Ryman level and the fact that he's taken over a Division Three side is a sure sign that his new club are intending to go places.

Hertford are currently down in 14th place and it would require a finish of sensational proportions to see them involved in this year's fight to go up.

Even so, they have already made big improvements and Roberts has brought in some "class act" players already -including one-time Spurs' first-teamer Paul Moran.

A warning for Wakering comes with the fact that Hertford, although having a pretty dismal home record, have won six times, and shared the spoils on three other occasions, in Division Three visits to opposition grounds this season.

Wakering follow tonight's match with a home game against third-placed Hornchurch on Saturday and, although winning 1-0 at Dorking on Saturday, have been struggling for goals during the injury-enforced absence of top scorerer Mark Hampshire.

Tommy Dalgarno, more usually a central defender, could again partner Paul Flack in attack tonight with Paul Pilkington dropping back from midfield to play alongside John Heffer at the heart of defence if a thigh strain continues to sideline Micky Munro.

The game kicks-off at 7.45pm and victory would put Eddie Nash's Wakering joint top with East Thurrock, with Rocks still holding top spot on goal difference.
