A scout group has vowed to fight back against the mindless vandals who have been targeting their headquarters.

The 1st Maldon All Saints, based at the Brickhouse Farm complex, has been plagued by vandals. Over recent weeks the thugs have damaged its vehicles and attacked its headquarters.

But the group has pledged to beat the vandals and is appealing for help to catch those responsible.

The latest incident the weekend saw a window was smashed in the main building - four days after another had been replaced.

Group Scout leader Cliff Hunter said: "We have suffered minor damage in the past but it has been getting worse. Both the two vehicles we have, a yellow mini-bus and a white van, have had windows broken.

"A window in the main building was broken by stone throwing. This was replaced and within four days another window in the building was broken. These have all happened on separate occasions."

Mr Hunter said the damage had cost £350 to repair.

"This is money that we could spend on providing more important things for the group. It appears to be just mindless vandalism by youngsters who are bored with nothing else to do."

Mr Hunter urged anyone who uses the complex in Poulton Close, which is home to other community groups, or uses the footpath or cycle way and sees anything, to contact either himself or the police. Officers have been informed about the incidents.

Mr Hunter has appealed for anyone who may be able to offer somewhere to store the two vehicles under cover to contact him on 01621 852013.
