Brentwood Police have appealed for help hunting down a pair of knife-wielding robbers who held up an Ingrave petrol station.

The two men, one of whom was carrying a knife, walked into the Ingrave Service Station on Brentwood Road at around 11.10 on Monday night and began threatening the cashier to do as they demanded.

He handed over cigarettes and cash, upon which the robbers fled to a getaway car parked in Thorndon Chase, leaving him unscathed.

Detectives are looking for a white, stocky man in his late 20s who was wearing a white anorak and a slim white man of 5ft 10 who was wearing a brown leather jacket, blue jeans and a distinctive white hat with flaps.

They also want to talk to the driver of a red Ford Escort car which was parked on the forecourt of the Fina garage on Brook Street, Brentwood earlier that night to eliminate him from their enquiries.

Anyone with information should contact Det Con Jason Prendergast on 01277 262212 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111
