Thorndon Park Golf Club hosted the annual Challenge Cup between the Essex PGA and the Essex Ladies County Golf Association.
After the morning foursomes the EPGA led by 3.5 to 1.5 points with a significant win of 4/3 by Patricia Cronin and Amanda Colgate for the ELCGA.
The first three afternoon singles matches went in favour of the EPGA to bring the score to 6.5 to 1.5, but despite subsequent wins by Sue Pugh, Patricia Cronin, Suzy Woolforton and Jean Johnson for the ELCGA the match was won by the Essex PGA, the final score being 9.5 to 5.5.
