Belle Vue seconds have been crowned Men's Second Division champions of the Southend and District Badminton League.

They clinched the title despite dropping their first point of the season in a 5-4 win over nearest rivals Linden (Brooks/Fair-hurst).

At the other end of the table Hockley finished their season without scoring any points at all.

Most recently they went down 8-1 at Phoenix (Dunn/ Wilson, Maynard/Barton), 7-2 against Fitzwimarc thirds (Bardrick/ Beckley) and 9-0 at Linden (Sirrett/P Leeds, Priest/Vardy, Knight/Wager).

Linden are looking good for runners-up spot after picking up a 5-4 win at Fitzwimarc (P Leeds/Hayden).

In the Premier Division, Fitzwimarc have been busy. They started their run of matches with a crushing 8-1 win at home to St Aidans-Leigh seconds (N Raven/C Dakin, Collins/J Dakin), followed by a narrow 5-4 victory against visitors Canvey (N Raven/ Copeman).

But their winning streak was disrupted by a 6-3 defeat at home to Westcliff (N Raven/C Dakin), a scoreline they reversed when visiting Eastwood seconds (N Raven/C Dakin).

Canvey's difficult season continued as they suffered a hat-trick of away losses against Westliff 6-3 (Bunn/King), Eastwood 9-0 (I Pearson/ Crabtree, J Pearson/Crompton, Winsor/Watling) and St Aidans-Leigh 8-1 (Barber/Cracknell, Kirby/Peaceful).

And Westcliff maintained top position with an 8-1 win over already-relegated Eastwood seconds (King/Bunn, Sanders/ Betts), who did manage to pick up a point, despite losing 5-4 away to St Aidans-Leigh seconds.

In Division One, St Aidans-Leigh's third team have had a hot patch at home, beating Heath 7-2 (Adams/Paul), Great Wakering 6-3 (Adams/Harris, Treadway/Ray Munro), Fitz-wimarc seconds 9-0 (Lee/Ray Munro, Adams/Paul, Kitchens/ Harris) and Belle Vue 7-2 (Adams/Paul).

However, their winning streak was ended by leaders Westcliff seconds who beat them 7-2 (Scott/Kightly).

Westcliff reinforced their position with two home wins, 7-2 against Fitzwimarc seconds (Coomber/Scott, Gilham/Rob-inson) and 9-0 against Great Wakering (Coomber/Kightly, Gilham/Keeble, Scott/Gilbey).

Great Wakering had mixed fortunes losing 7-2 at home to Belle Vue (Jess/Smith, Mar-shall/McBreaty), but clinched a 5-4 win, also at home, to Heath.

Fitzwimarc seconds also enjoyed a home victory over Heath by the same scoreline, despite a maximum from the away team's S Weingarten/ Desmond.
