Canvey Island are still on the trail of three knockout trophies this season - but were made to fight all the way by Schweppes Essex Senior League Bowers United at Park Lane before winning through to the semi-finals of the Eastern Floodlight Competition after extra-time.
Gulls took a 52nd-minute lead when Andy Jones scored his 26th goal of the season, but the battling Pitsea visitors got on terms seven minutes from the end of normal time through Michael Welsh.
Four minutes into the extra half-hour substitute Steve Parmenter grabbed the winner to see the Islanders through to a semi-final date at another Senior League outfit - Burnham Ramblers.
The winners of that will be at home in the final. Canvey played Burnham twice in the qualifying league stages of the competition - drawing 1-1 away and winning 6-1 at home. The other semi-final sees Braintree host Saffron Walden on March 28.
The Islanders return to Ryman Premier Division action on Saturday when they host in-form Slough Town.
