Colchester Men's Hockey Club wrapped up their home programme in the Crowe Insurance League with a 4-0 win at Leisure World.
But player-coach Arthur Wormington was the first to admit they were flattered by the margin of victory.
He fumed: "Three points are always important, but the performance is of greater long-term significance and we were poor."
