Two of Chelmsford Hockey Club's brightest young stars received some good news this week when they heard that they had been selected for the England Under 18 squad.

Goalkeeper David Carter, 16, a student at Chelmsford's King Edward VI Grammar School, is a product of the club's successful Youth Section and has made his way up through the Chelmsford ranks to be an ever present in the first eleven squad this season.

His selection for the European Championships, which are to be held in Lyon at Easter, caps a fairytale debut season in the English Hockey League.

Defender Rob MacKay, 16, who has been selected for the Home International squad, is a student at Bishop's Stortford College and will be proud to add Under 18 honours to the Under 16 caps he collected last season.

Rob is also a regular member of the Chelmsford first eleven squad, although his appearances have been limited through injury this year.
