Elegant bargain-hunters are viewing potential additions to their wardrobes at the contents sale of Colchester gentleman's outfitter Jolliffe's.

The Crouch Street store shut up shop in February after 65 years.

Shoppers can view nearly 600 lots of clothing and shop furniture at the shop today and from 9am tomorrow (Saturday).

Auctioneers Reeman Dansie Howe and Son start the sale at 11am.

Lots going under the hammer include dinner jackets, morning dress and regimental badges.

A Georgian chest of drawers is also included in the auction.

Owner William Jolliffe blamed the closure on lack of trade and said modern department stores and out-of-town shopping centres may have had an impact.
