Having had to cancel the last three month's meetings because of the weather, it was thanks to Chairman Richard Everitt for putting a roller over the track to make conditions excellent on Sunday for the Braintree BMX Club to hold a meeting.

Seventeen riders turned up in the sunshine and provided some excellent racing with Bradley Watts being unbeaten in Group 1 closely followed by newcomer Abel Pearce who was delighted with his first meeting.

Also making her debut at the Braintree track was Charlie Willshire who took third places in all her races.

In Group 2, it was close racing all the way with a tremendous battle between Rory McLean and Liam Sherwood, Rory taking victory in three races but Liam giving an extra push to the line in the fourth race.

Rory's excellent achievements earned him the Rider of the Day medal.

Groups 3 and 4 were competing in the same races with a handicap system for the more experienced riders.

Two wins went to Stevie Sewell with Tim Machin thrilled to cross the line first in another race.

In the last race of the day Ryan Everitt used all his experience and pulled out the stops to force a way through the field.

Sunday's overall results were: Group 1: 1st Bradley Watts, 2nd Abel Pearce, 3rd Charlie Willsher, 4th Chloe Sherwood, 5th Lee Hodgson, 6th Oliver Hassell. Group 2: 1st Rory McLean, 2nd Liam Sherwood, 3rd Matthew Sewell, 4th Ashley Hall, 5th Katie Roberts. Group 3: 1st Steven Sewell, 2nd Martin Simmons, 3rd Jonathan Roberts. Group 4: 1st Tim Machin, 2nd Ryan Everitt, 3rd Alex Humphrey.

The Club's next meeting is a promotional event on Sunday, April 9 when it hopes to see a lot of new faces. Details can be obtained from David Humphrey on 01376 341806.
