COWARD CUP

In the outstanding third round tie, Woodham Town needed extra time and penalties before seeing off Ravens, whose scorers in 'normal time' were Simon Bowring and Mark Hayward.

Two quarter finals took place and Coggeshall Town and Heybridge Social booked their places in the semi finals.

Darren Grace's two goals saw Coggeshall to a 2-1 win at Little Waltham , while Heybridge Social had 80 per cent of the play in a fast and frenetic first half, but they let Hatfield Peverel take a 2-0 lead.

Mark James then scored from close range after Carl Boutwell had flicked on a long ball, and a minute later, it was all square, a super individual effort from Chris Heasman getting Social back on terms.

Soon after the interval Chipperfield's fine cross set up Boutwell to prod the ball home and give Social the lead, and the tie was sealed soon after, Heasman netting a fourth Social goal.

Heasman and Boutwell both missed further chances and manager Mark Hawkes clipped the bar from 30 yards as Social turned on the style.
