Ipswich riders dominated the Racing Team East's Hardrider's TT with Neil Douglas, an Ipswich resident but riding for Stowmarket & District, just failing to beat the hour in 1.0.58.

However, he had no team backing and Ipswich Bicycle Club stepped in with Angus Jardine (1.1.33) second and James Morris (1.1.59) third, while the fastest veteran, Ted Saunderson, was the third team counter in 1.19.30.

This is a counting event for the SPOCO (Sporting Courses) points competition and this year and in the future will be held in memory of Tony Wells and Bob Thompson, late members of RT EAST.

This event incorporated the East Anglian group of the VTTA's annual hilly TT and the top honours went to Ken Craven, for many years a top Essex rider, now domiciled in Elmswell, but still with Crescent CC.

Ken went round in 1.7.15, which gave him +14.02 minutes on the age standard and will put his name on both the Stourvale Shield (Best on age standard) and the Geri Lang Memorial Trophy (EA Group member on age standard).

Second and third were Gordon Dennis (North Road CC) and 7.36m and Ted Saunderson (IBC) and 6.56m Wolsey RC took the team award, with Roger Selmes and Colin Clarke, ably backed by Ted Douglas, 76.
