Essex CCC have attracted new sponsors.

Leading independent brewers Shepherd Neame have marked the success of their sales drive into Essex by signing a three-year sponsorship deal with the club.

The arrangement, which will be worth more than £100,000 over three years, will see the Essex players wearing training kit branded with the brewery's distinctive shepherd's crook logo.

The deal also secures exclusive rights for the Faversham-based Kent brewery's famous beers to be served at all Essex grounds.

Shepherd Neame are already involved in Essex cricket, as sponsors of the Essex Cricket League.

Essex CCC commercial manager David East said: "Shepherd Neame is committed to sport in Essex, and we are delighted to be working with them for the next three years.

To herald the link with their new sponsors, the Essex players enjoyed a slap-up curry dinner at the Faversham brewery - an offbeat Shepherd Neame custom whenever they sign a major sponsorship.
