Wivenhoe are looking good for a top six finish in Ryman League division two after cruising to victory at Leighton.
Leighton are still in relegation trouble, and it showed as the Dragons controlled the game.
Without the injured Julian Hazel and the ill Jason Clewley, it was clear from the first half that the visitors just had to up their game to clinch the victory.
And that they did with two excellent second half goals.
The first came after 47 minutes when Jamie Cottee and Alan Day combined brilliantly in the penalty box to set up Danny Smith, who drilled the ball in from an angle. The second arrived ten minutes from time, with the excellent Smith again involved.
He won the ball just inside the Leighton half before feeding Cottee in yards of space.
And he took his time before eventually rifling the ball into the top left hand corner of the goal. With rivals Barking and Marlow both losing it was a good day for Wivenhoe.
