Rayleigh racing driver Paul Hughes is all revved up for the new MGF Cup season after coming 13th overall during the final pre-season testing session at Silverstone.

The Inter UK Racing driver, who lives in Victoria Avenue, was in an optimistic frame of mind before the weekend's racing, having posted some relatively quick times during testing, despite running on an old pair of tyres.

Hughes said: "Testing has been going relatively well given that we are experimenting with our own set-ups at present and I'm really looking forward to a good season. I'm expecting some pretty competitive stuff for spectators."

The 12-race MGF Cup series started at the weekend at the Thruxton circuit in Hampshire with qualifying on Saturday and race day yesterday.
