Another 90 minutes of football between the Billericay team Gary Calder now manages and his former club failed to find a winner.

In their previous Ryman League Premier Division game, Billericay had shared the spoils away to Enfield. That time it was 1-1, but Saturday's less than inspirational affair at New Lodge was goalless.

At least the point gained by each side allowed both to edge further away from the dogfight going on to avoid dropping into Division One.

Billericay stayed four points clear of the third from bottom club and they should certainly be well able to take advantage of the games in hand they have on many of the opposition outfits.

In fact, it's quite on the cards that Billericay can end their season in the top half of the table, although the top six placing they yearned for at the start of the campaign as part of a five-year plan how looks way beyond them.

In recent times Billericay have become something of draw specialists as this was the sixth time in their last eight matches they've been sharing the spoils at the end of 90 minutes.

To be honest, another point apiece would not be a surprise result from tonight's Premier encounter at Hendon, whose record is very similar to that of the New Lodge side.

There were half-chances to either side in Saturday's opening half - the best of them probably falling to Billericay a minute before the break when Joe Baker's centre from the right found striker Stafford Browne unmarked.

Again opportunities were few and far between after the interval, but Steve Blaney, still basking in his superb scoring effort in Wednesday's Essex Senior Cup defeat at Purfleet, fired in a couple of shots that were blocked. Sadly, off-form Justin Gentle's attempt to score from the second rebound finished high over the bar.

Enfield suffered a knock 18 minutes from time when Lee Protheroe was stretchered off and taken to hospital with a leg injury.

Breaking through - Billericay's Joe Baker (dark shirt) tries to inspire his side in Saturday's goalless draw.
