Police are hunting a motorist who knocked over a ten-year-old boy and drove off without stopping.

Police are appealing for help to find the male driver who struck Luke Moran, of Thorpe Road, Great Clacton just after he left nearby St John's Church Hall, Great Clacton, where he had been visiting a friend's grandmother.

PC Gary Chapman said Luke and two of his friends were taking a short cut through Somerfield's car park in North Road, Great Clacton, when the car drove forward and hit him.

He added that Luke banged his head on the ground and suffered cuts to his eye, neck and knees.

Luke, who attends Burrsville Junior School in Great Clacton, has been told to stay off school for the rest of the week.
