Last Saturday saw Chelmsford Athletic Club hold their first meeting of the season and Braintree school of excellence sent along four of their girls from year 4/6.

Sarah Smith won the under 11 shot put and came fourth in the under 13 age group.

Faye Jolly did well in the 800m finishing the race with a new pb of 303.7 seconds in the under 13 age group.

Rachel Ball also performed well in the Long Jump with a distance of 3.44m and one other new recruit to the team was Ellen Whitney, who had four good jumps for her first meeting.

Sarah Bacon ran a fast sprint in the 100m clocking 15.7 (a new personal best).

Emma Smith, under 13 came third in her javelin event with a throw of 19.24 while Hollie Redman, under 15 had a great day with first in the Shot Put, first in the Discus and second in the Javelin.

Luke Hughes set two new personal bests, which were 26.6 seconds in the 200m and 4.87m in the Long Jump.

Alex Zulewski did well in the 200m and Rob McGeary also performed well in the 100/200m in windy conditions and he was also put up an age due to lack of numbers.

Daniel Smith (under 17) threw the longest distances in the Discus and also in the shot put for the under 17 age group.
