A 21-year-old woman who took her mum to play bingo as a Mother's Day treat won more than £82,000.

The Maldon woman - who has asked not to be named - took her mother to the Mecca Club in Southend and ended up scooping the big money jackpot.

Now the kind-hearted winner is splitting the cash with her mum, then plans to put the money towards buying her own house and a new car.

The secretary won the National Bingo Game prize of £66,666, the regional prize of £15,504 and the house prize of £361.

The woman has been a Mecca member since she was 18 after she was introduced to bingo by her mum.

Her proud mother said: "I don't drive and as the club is about 25 miles away, I couldn't get there otherwise. My husband and son were taking the mickey out of her, but they laughed on the other side of their faces when we got home and they found out how much she had won."
