Pop band Scooch thrilled 300 pupils when they performed at a Clacton school.

The pupils from Holland Park School saw the band as part of their nationwide tour when they visited on Tuesday.

The group, which had a top five hit with More Than I Needed To Know, chatted and sang their new single The Best Is Yet To Come.

Group members Russ, Caroline, Natalie and David answered questions from a group of children before they went on stage.

The group was there thanks to Stephanie Moule, ten, who wrote to the band to suggest they come to her school.

One pupil asked if they had any top tips to becoming a star and David told them: "You have to believe in it, you can't really want to do anything else."

Then the band, which supported B*witched last year and has been on the BBC's Live and Kicking show, sang songs in the school's main hall and persuaded three teachers to dance with them.

Several Scooch posters around the hall were made by the pupils but when the band asked who had made one saying "We love David", a dinner lady sheepishly put her hand up.
