A home for cats has been given planning permission - despite a complaint about the animals' mating habits.
Tendring Council's planning sub-committee gave permission for some outbuildings in Totland Drive, Clacton, to be retained to house cats.
There were three letters of objection, one of which protested at the "noise from mating cats".
Other residents objected to the use of a business from the site, the smell and concern about drainage.
Planning officer Nigel Hebden said the matter came to the council's attention because of an enforcement notice.
He added the woman was not running a business or animal sanctuary, and that she was partially disabled and keeping cats was her hobby.
There are ten cats at the home and two dogs.
Councillors backed the scheme, but placed a condition on the consent limiting it to the current occupier.
