Ipswich Town were back on the box for their First Division clash at West Bromwich Albion last night.

Town - who were without a game at the weekend - were hoping to make up some ground on Barnsley and Manchester City in front of the Sky television cameras.

It's the seventh time this season Town have been on live and they were hoping to make another good impression on the viewing audience.

The Tykes and City both won away from home on Saturday to keep up the pressure and the First Division season could reach boiling point at The Hawthorns.

Their results sent George Burley's promotion-chasing side sliding down to fourth in the table but they could have reclaimed second spot last night with victory.

It could all be academic if Manchester City beat Bolton today.

Joe Royle's side entertain the beaten FA Cup semi-finalists at Maine Road looking to extend their run of good form.

Burley could be without four of his most influential players for the trip to the Midlands.

Town were sweating on the fitness of John McGreal (ankle), Gary Croft, Marcus Stewart (both groin), and Fabian Wilnis (hamstring).

Burley said before the game: "West Brom are fighting for their lives near the foot of the First Division but that means nothing. They will give us one hell of a test, but we want to make sure of our third win in a row to keep us in touch near the top."

Gary Megson's side are hovering just above the bottom three and will be anxious to put some distance between themselves and the other strugglers.

The Baggies - who lost 3-1 at Portman Road under previous boss Brian Little in December - are level with Walsall.
