Detectives are renewing their appeal for witnesses following an alleged sexual assault.
The allegation was made following an incident on a stairwell in East Stockwell Street, Colchester, between 11.20pm and 11.45pm on Friday, March 24.
Police believe two mystery women who passed the stairwell may have seen the incident involving a man and a 29-year-old woman from the Colchester area, who was wearing a denim jacket and a skirt.
They are appealing for them and anyone who may have seen a man and woman apparently engaged in sexual activity on the stairwell to contact CID on 01206 762212.
A 23-year-old man has been arrested and bailed to re-attend Colchester police station pending further inquiries.
