Detectives investigating the killing of Bryan Hooley have received a limited response following the launch of a murder inquiry.
The naked body of Mr Hooley, 28, from Roxwell, near Chelmsford, was found washed up on Kessingland Beach, near Lowestoft, Suffolk, on March 2.
The body had been weighted down with gym weights and padlocks.
Police launched a murder inquiry on Wednesday after results of forensic tests showed Mr Hooley was killed by blows to the head and face with a flat-sided object about two hours before being put in the sea.
Det Supt Adrian Braddy, leading the investigation, said: "Since launching the murder inquiry we have received 12 calls from the public. That means more than 140 calls from the public have now been received."
