Two care workers charged in connection with the death of a 95-year-old woman at a north Essex old people's home are to be re-interviewed by police.

Kirsty Gibson, 20, of West Avenue, Clacton, and Philip Perkins, 35, of De Vere Estate, Great Bentley, are both on remand in prison.

They will attend Clacton police station on Monday where they will be interviewed by officers investigating deaths at Carnarvon Lodge Residential Care Home in Clacton.

The interviews are part of routine police procedure allowing officers to clarify points on their statements.

The pair, who both worked at the home, will return to prison the same day.

Gibson and Perkins are among four people who are jointly charged with the manslaughter of Winifred Armstrong.

Care home owner Angela Postill, 41, of Hawkendon Way, Clacton, and former care home worker Pearl Gunfield, 41, of Harwich Road, Little Clacton, are also charged with manslaughter.

Postill and Gunfield each face a further charge of murdering Eunice Fifield at Carnarvon Lodge.

Essex Police and Essex social services launched an investigation into allegations of mistreatment at the home last year.

Police are due to hear if a post mortem examination on former resident George Fowler showed anything suspicious. His body was exhumed in Jersey last month.
