Colchester United are among a number of Football League clubs who have been recommended to provide more accomodation for visiting fans.

U's secretary Marie Partner said: "To avoid turning away visiting fans, The Football League and the police have made a recommendation to us and a number of other clubs that we make a greater percentage of our accomodation available.

"It will only affect around six games and we will be making 180 extra seats available from next season."

Mrs Partner added that she has already written to the U's fans who are affected by the changes to offer them new short or long term seating arrangements for next season.

The U's currently make around 1,200 seating and terrace spaces available to visiting supporters.
