Colchester United manager Steve Whitton has paid tribute to the club's Supporters Association for their "tremendous" generosity and backing.

The U's boss, who scoffed at media speculation linking him with the Sheffield Wednesday manager's job, said: "We are very grateful we can turn to the CUSA on the odd occasion and ask them for a favour"

The supporters association have donated around £5,500 this season, including an annual award to stadium manager David Blacknall to assist him with ground improvements and general costs.

The sum also includes £1000 sponsorship for the Easter Monday trip to Wrexham.

A delighted Whitton added yesterday: "The association's overall support is fantastic. They love the club and they are always there at all our away games.

"We can't always show our appreciation for what they do, but on behalf of the club, the board of directors, myself and the lads, hopefully we can pay them back with a good result and good day out at Wrexham."

Meanwhile, the Division Two game at Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday week has been designated all-ticket for U's supporters.

Ticket prices are (Amersham and Wycombe College Stand): adults - £15; senior citizens - £14; children - £9.

Roger Vere Stand: adults - £13; senior citizens - £12; children - £9.

Tickets will be available from the Layer Road until noon on Friday, April 14 during normal office hours and after Saturday's home game against Blackpool.

There will be no tickets sold to U's fans on the day of the game.
