Talented actors from Thorpe Hall School, Wakering Road, Thorpe Bay, have won national and local awards for their production of Set in Stone.
The play was written especially for the upper school pupils by their drama teacher, Vivienne Cunningham.
They won a trophy for the most imaginative production from the Independent Schools' Association Drama Festival, held at Ascot in Berkshire.
They also pocketed three trophies from the Southend Arts Council Drama Festival. James Bourne, 16, won the best actor award in the production, which is based on Arthur's Legends.
Meanwhile, three public speakers from the school, 16-year-olds Bradley White-Dale, James Bourne again, and Tania Jacobs, won a Rotary Club public speaking competition.
Tomorrow they are going to Hertfordshire to compete against other counties with their speech "Always look on the bright side of life".
