Members of the Chelmsford & District Sub Aqua Club are busy preparing for the forthcoming diving season.

Last weekend the club's Boat Officer took a small team of volunteers to Eastbourne to service the club's RIB which is now fully serviceable.

Six members of the club recently dived the HMS Balfour which was sunk in 1918 off Eastbourne.

The wreck sits upright on the seabed at 28m where the boilers and engines are clearly visible. As this is a fairly small ship it was possible to swim around the whole wreck in one dive.

An oxygen Administration course was organised by the Regional coach, and attended by five club members, who were all successful in achieving a pass certificate.

The club's traditional Easter Training weekend is now being organised and will take place at Stoney Cove in Leicestershire.

This is also an excellent opportunity for experienced divers to check their equipment in sheltered water.

Anyone interested in contacting the club is invited to telephone Steve Whiteley on 01245 441284 or by visiting the club's website on http://freeweb.ftech.net/vsl/
