The airwaves around Essex will ring to the dulcet tones of one of our own native sons.

Chelmsford-born TV star Chris Rogers is coming back to his home county to join Essex FM as a disc-jockey.

Chris 25, who fronts the popular ITV animal show Brilliant Creatures, will be presenting Essex FM's Sunday breakfast show from April 16.

He said: "I know Essex really well because this is where I was born and brought up and I'm really looking forward to being on the radio here."

Chris has fronted a number of top TV shows ranging from Newsround to Songs of Praise and Top Gear Gti. He has also presented for Sky News and is about to be seen on Channel Five News.

And if you thought Chris was just a pretty face, you'll be pleased to know he is no stranger to the radio microphone having started his career at a station in Birmingham and has also been a DJ with Capital Radio in London and BBC Radio One.

Paul Chantler, Essex FM programme director, said: "This is a real coup for Essex FM. Chris is a very talented radio DJ and also a well-known name.
