Teenage night Intrigue opened once more at a completely new seafront venue in Southend.

The troubled under-18s club night launched new weekly Sunday events at Bar Central in Lucy Road, Southend.

It is the first time the night has gone ahead since its original home at the Coliseum in Elm Road, Leigh was refused an entertainment licence.

Residents around the Leigh club had complained about constant problems outside the club brought on by teenagers visiting it.

However, Sunday's event passed without incident and Bar Central entertainment manager Dave Williams said it was a more suitable venue.

He said: "The police are pleased for it to be held here because it is a non-residential area and there is plenty of space outside.

"We also had plenty of security staff on duty, as well as stewards, to make sure the youngsters stayed in the club. We were well prepared for the night, and it has gone well."

Intrigue promoter Paul Masters said: "It was better all round at Bar Central."

Thumbs up - clubbers Candice Potter, Holly Cocklin, Lauren Harris, Fallon Wells and Joanna Fenttimon all approve of the club's new venue
