Hard-working Basildon College students dug deep to raise £250 for the flood victims of Mozambique.
Students spent the day elbow deep in soap suds as they washed dozens of cars to help raise cash for the appeal.
Others held table top sales and raffles to boost the final fundraising tally.
Representatives from the Basildon branch of Save the Children turned up to receive the £250 cheque. The college also gave £50 from its own coffers.
Spokesman Andy Williams said: "We have a group which are very aware of how much they can assist and are always more than willing to help.
"This is not the first time they have pulled together to raise money for charity and it definitely won't be the last."
