Billericay Town continue to hold an Indian sign over former manager John Kendall's current club Chesham.

Having beaten the Bucking-hamshire outfit on their two previous meetings this season, Town earned a point from last night's Ryman League Premier Division visit and stoppped their hosts taking over third place in the table.

Gary Calder's Billericay had a couple of early half-chances, but it was Chesham who drew first blood after 21 minutes when Victor Renner's header from a corner saw Terry Bowes also use his head to appply the finishing touch.

Much of Town's bid to get back into the proceedings was created by the runs of ex-Leyton Orient man Joe Baker but, at the other end, Gavin King had to be at his most alert to save from Stuart Storer 11 minutes after the break.

A 69th-minute Baker run and cross from the left saw the ball flash across goal and Gary Henty fire in a shot from the right which Chesham's assistant manager Jeff Wood, the one-time Football Lea-gue goalkeeper, saved with ease.

However, Billericay, and that man Baker in particular, were not to be denied and he grabbed the equaliser with a shot from inside the box 13 minutes from time.

Despite a couple of confrontational situations, including a pushing incident as the players left the field at half-time, officials felt that the referee was more than a little "notebook happy" in cautioning no less than seven players - four from the New Lodge club.

This draw, which lifted Billericay to ninth, ended a run of three straight wins but Town, who go to bottom club Walton and Hersham on Saturday, have seventh spot very much in their sights now.
