Echo journalist Theresa Gains has been nominated for a prestigious national award.
Theresa, 30, has been shortlisted in the BT Daily News Journalist of the Year category for London and the Northern Home Counties.
She was nominated for a series of in-depth articles about serial rapist Richard Baker who attacked women in Southend, London and Brighton. The articles were written when she was chief reporter of the Echo's Southend edition.
Theresa, who is now the assistant news editor responsible for the Basildon and Thurrock edition, will attend a plush awards ceremony at the Marble Arch Thistle Hotel in London on Friday April 28.
