There was mixed news for Southend Manor last night in their bid to win the Schweppes Essex Senior League.
Leaders Saffron Walden suffered a shock 3-1 home defeat at the hands of Leyton, but Burnham drew level with the second-placed Southchurch Park club, with a game in hand, after beating bottom club Stansted 1-0 at home.
On Saturday Manor should pick up three points when they visit a Woodford side who lost 10-0 at Sawbridgeworth last night. Ilford stayed in the race by defeating East Ham 4-1 on Monday.
