A stunt pilot has landed his plane on the world's smallest aircraft carrier.

Martyn Carrington undertook 18 months of training for the daredevil stunt which was carried out by the Kia Aerobatic Stunt Team.

Mr Carrington, 26, from Clacton, had to match his 23ft plane's speed to the 60mph of the Kia Sedona people carrier pulling a trailer just 8ft wide along Kemble Airfield, Cirencester, Gloucestershire.

He then manoeuvred his plane into position and landed on the carrier with just a four-inch gap to separate the aircraft wheels from the edge of the platform.

Mr Carrington said: "You have to keep on your toes because as you get close to it there is a lot of turbulence."

He said his parents took a bit of convincing.

"They were a bit apprehensive because it's not something you hear about every day.You get quite a mixed reception when you go home and say 'I'm landing on a lorry trailer next week'."
