They're here.
Paras celebrated their arrival at their new home at Colchester Garrison yesterday (Thursday) with a flag-raising ceremony at Meeanee Barracks.
The 689 members of 2nd Battalion The Parachute Regiment have moved to Colchester from their previous base in Aldershot.
Some of the 50 vehicles adapted for use by the airborne forces were also on display at the garrison today.
The move is part of the Government's strategic defence review and the formation of 16 Air Assault Brigade which has its headquarters and most of its troops in Colchester.
Troops from the battalion have moved into Meeanee Barracks on Mersea Road and will be joined by the 3rd Battalion who will move to Hyderabad Barracks in August.
The two battalions will host a civic reception later in the year when they have settled into their new home.
