Great Wakering Rovers are hoping for a large turnout from the village tomorrow afternoon to cheer them into the Ryman League Second Division.

Rovers go into the home clash with Corinthian Casuals knowing that victory and three points will see them go up from Division Three at the first attempt after one of their main rivals for the three promotion spots, Aveley, suffered a 1-0 home defeat at the hands of Epsom and Ewell on Tuesday.

Wakering, who haven't won in four League games, will go into the match with extra problems as, after both were sent off against Egham a fortnight ago, Tommy Dalgarno and Garry Ewers start four and three match suspensions respectively.

Physio Cleve Taylor is the busiest man at Burroughs Park at the moment as he bids to get stars such as Paul Flack, Mark Hampshire, Ollie Evans and Richard Woodley fit for action.

Skipper John Heffer is definitely out for the rest of the term, but Paul Pilkington may bravely repeat last week's feat of playing against medical advice which suggested that his knee problems should sideline him for the rest of the campaign.

If Rovers do manage to settle their own promotion issue tomorrow, they'll be able to concentrate over the last four games on their bid to win the title.

They currently lead East Thurrock by one point in this department, but Rocks have a match in hand and this issue could be settled on the penultimate Saturday of the season (April 29) when the two teams clash at Rookery Hill.

For the time being, it's promotion itself which is firmly on the minds of manager Eddie Nash and his players.

The team produced a far better performance than of late last weekend when going down 1-0 at the Division's most improved side, Flackwell Heath.
