One of the top Essex non-league local derby games takes place at Scraley Road tomorrow (Saturday), when a revitalised Heybridge Swifts take on high-riding Canvey Island in an all Ryman League Premier Division clash (kick off 3pm).

Swifts, not long ago languishing in the relegation zone, have made a dramatic recovery under new manager Liam Cutbush and with a recent run of good results are realistically looking for a top half finish for the season.

The Islanders, still smarting after a shock 0-1 home defeat by bottom club Boreham Wood last Saturday, will be looking for a win and three points to maintain their challenge to take the runners-up spot behind champions-elect Dagenham & Redbridge.

Both sides will be at full strength and the game is expected to provide Swifts with their biggest gate of the season.

After a fortnight's break due to a midweek postponment, manager Cutbush expects to have his injured players back available and a full squad to choose from with all those knocks and niggles cleared up, ready for the final six games.

Swifts are also at home on Tuesday (April 18), when much improved Slough Town are the visitors for a 7.30 pm kick off.

Slough though also suffered a shock defeat last Saturday when they lost 3-2 at home to lowly neighbours Harrow Borough.
