DAVE STRACHAN CUP SEMI-FINALS

Southminster remain on course to complete a unique treble, after Saturday's 3-2 win over Braintree & Bocking United, the Saints having twice come from behind before sealing victory.

Andy Johnson gave the home team the lead before the interval, and Darren Harding headed Southminster level after the restart, only for John Morgan to almost immediately put Braintree ahead again.

Free-kick specialist James Bird equalised for the Saints, whose fine fight-back was completed by Bird who netted his second goal and the winner in the final minutes.

Cup holdersTillingham Hotspur have been expelled from the competition and the other semi-final will take place this weekend when Marconi and Sandon Royals will be playing for a place in the final against Southminster, the match scheduled for May 1.

DIVISION TWO

There were few games last weekend due to the heavy rainfall, but on a perfect playing surface at Southminster, the home team's reserves had to work hard before seeing off Old Chelmsfordians 5-2.

Southminster moved into an early two lead with goals from Jamie Bearman and a fine strike from Jon Stevens.

The visitors pulled a goal back before the interval and after the restart equalised and looked to be in with a chance of victory, but the impressive David Main put away a penalty and two late goals from leading goalscorer James Norris gave Southminster the points.

DIVISION THREE

Liddard's first half penalty and Hector's goal in the second period gave Old Chelmsfordians Reserves a 2-0 victory over visitors Benfleet.

David Smith and Mark Nurthen scored for Springfield , who drew 2-2 with lowly Silver End , who thus shared the points for the seventh time this season.

DIVISION FIVE CUP FINAL

n a hard fought final, Little Waltham completed a league and cup double with a 3-2 win over Shenfield Association, the match needing extra-time to find the eventual winner.

Justin Wilkes and Graham Howson goals gave Waltham a 2-1 interval lead, and Shenfield netted in the closing minutes to take the game into extra -time.

Waltham's Kieron Murphy scrambled in the winner in the first period, although Shenfield went close to taking the game to penalties.

DIVISION FIVE

Little Waltham finished off their season in style on Saturday, by beating Woodham Radars 6-2, Kieron Murphy (3) and Graham Howson (2) among the Waltham scorers.

Sedgwick confirmed second place with a 2-0 home win over a strong Harold Wood Reserves side, Paul Beard and Michael Bryant the scorers.

EEV Reserves drew 1-1 at Shelley Royals Reserves , Ben Bloomfield on target for the visitors.

Gary Daniels netted a hat trick for Mayland Village Reserves at Old Brentwoods Reserves but it was not enough to give his side their first victory of the season, as the home team also scored three goals to earn a point.
