All of Witham Town's scheduled matches at the weekend, all being away from Spa Road, were postponed, due to waterlogged pitches.

The matches that fell to the weather were the first team's Ryman League Division Two fixture at Edgware Town, the Reserves match at Canvey Island and most disappointing the final of the Under 18's County Cup (Butcher Cup) that should have been played on Sunday at Burnham Ramblers Football Club and that one was called off on Saturday morning.

It was just as well that there was no games on the Spa Road pitch on Saturday as it was flooded.

As the rains slowed down late on Saturday afternoon, groundsman Alan Collins and his young son worked hard to get rid of the water and then early on Sunday morning, Alan was back again to mark the pitch out, put up the nets etc.

With the help of some early sunshine, the pitch was in perfect condition for the Blackwater and Dengie League Cup final to kick off at 10.30am the first of two Cup Finals they played on the pitch on Sunday.

The first team have two Ryman League games over the next three days when tomorrow (Saturday), they are at Spa Road to take on Leighton Town and on Easter Monday, Witham travel the short distance up the A12 to take on Wivenhoe Town.Monday's match at Broad Lane kicks off at 11.30am.
