The weather was the real winner in the Southend Borough Combination Veterans League this weekend with only four matches surviving the deluge.

In Division Three, Haydon Manor secured the title without kicking a ball as their only challengers, Old Southendian, lost 4-2 to Rochford Town.

Rochford had a player sent off after taking a three minute lead through Buckthorpe and Old Boys were on terms at the break through Harwood.

Wright put Rochford back in front immediately after the interval and Bickford made it 3-1.

Harwood grabbed a second for the Old Boys, but Wright had the last word with his second.

Laindon Athletic 2nd beat Lions 4-0 with Clarke scoring twice, while Micklewright was a double hero for Chalkwell United in a 3-3 draw with Eastwoodbury Ramblers 2nd. Tyrode got two for Rams.

In the First Division Harris grabbed a brace as Eastwoodbury Ramblers beat AFC Corringham 4-0.
