Bell Sports and Royal Bank of Scotland will meet in the final of the Southend Sunday League's Section D Cup.

Both pulled off good semi-final successes yesterday in a Sunday programme which saw a number of games cancelled due to the torrential rain that fell on Saturday.

Benson and S Jones got two apiece for Bell in a 6-1 win at Ness Rangers, while Bank cashed in with a 3-2 success at Anchor Athletic.

One of the matches called off was the Essex Sunday Junior Cup final at Tiptree in which Southend League side Shoebury Old Boys were due to play Canvey based Sceptre League Castle Rangers. This will go ahead now at the same venue on a date to be decided.

In the Premier Division, honours were even in the double-header between Oakwood Sports and Kings Field Casuals. Oakwood won the first game 1-0 thanks to Warner's goal, but lost the second 6-1 with C Pasfield and S Sexton both notching braces for the winners.

Johnson's two goal polish took Southend Academicals to a 3-2 win over Trinity, while Rochford Town Sports had five players netting one each in the 5-0 win at Rayleigh Avenue.

Tubbs was undoubtedly the unluckiest marksman of the day. He scored four for his side, Old Southendian, at home to Canewdon in Division One, but still ended up on the losing side 5-4.

D Emmons, N Hayes and R Storey were the on target men as Spartek disposed of Roche Meadow 3-1.

Steadman's hat-trick helped Wadham Park Rangers win 5-1 at D and A Sports 2nd in Division Three, while Holtend United edged the spoils in their double header with North Bank United.

The two teams finished at 1-1 in the first match, but J May's vital effort saw Holtend home 1-0 in the second encounter.

Finch and Head were both twin-strike heroes as Runnymede won 4-1 against Blenheim Wanderers in Division Four. Webster scored three for Wheatleys 2nd - 6-0 winners at Woodland Old Boys. Gowan netted two.

It was a case of all White on the night for Leigh Ramblers in Division Five. For White scored four and Hollins three as they triumphed 12-1 at Rochford United. N Mead, J Rubert and K Ranson got the goals which enabled Gunners to shoot down Rayleigh Avenue 2nd 3-1.

A Schofield's double delight helped Grid Athletic 2nd beat Carlyle Sports 4-2 in Division Six.

A Sharpe's cutting edge - he scored two goals - took Borough Rovers to a point in a 3-3 draw with Kingston Athletic 2nd. Cottrell netted a double for Kingston.
