Mercedes dealership SMAC Continental, based in Eastwood, sold more new cars in March than any other outlet in London and the South East.

A boom in the popularity of Mercedes vehicles brought the dealership its best-ever March sales figures.

The dealership has also just celebrated its second birthday at its stylish new premises on the Arterial Road.

According to the company, every model in the Mercedes range performed well, but outstanding results were returned by the new S-class, SL Roadster, V-class People Carrier and the M-Class 4x4, recently boosted by the addition of a new diesel-engine version.

John Biggs, Smac Continental's sales manager said: "With lower running costs, greater security protection and our unique 30-year breakdown assistance package, customers clearly feel Mercedes models offer good value for money and are buying them in increasing numbers.

"March was certainly a bumper month for Smac Continental and with a new C-class model due here later this year, 2000 looks like being another highly successful year."
