Poppy the pig is looking for a new home after her pongy pen proved too much for neighbours at her home in Shoebury.

But the eight-month-old Chinese Yakaton cross pot-bellied pig is in limbo after zoos and petting farms in the area refused to take her. Now owner Alan Wyatt has issued a desperate plea for someone to come forward with a home for Poppy, who is fully grown and the height of a medium- sized dog.

Alan, 32, from Ashanti Close Shoebury said the wet weather had made the loveable porker too smelly for her own good.

He said: "We had no complaints until the weather got really bad and she started smelling."

Alan bought Poppy from a rare breed centre after he heard she was due to be put down, and his four children aged between three and eight fell in love with her. She needs someone who can take her on, look after her, and possibly let us visit, so we can see how she is getting on."

Anyone who can help should call Alan on 01702 312672.
