East Thurrock United's goalless draw at Egham last night just about keeps the Ryman League Division Three title door ajar for Great Wakering Rovers.

Rocks took over top spot from Wakering, who have won promotion at the first attempt, on goal difference with last night's point - but victory would almost certainly have sealed the championship for the Rookery Hill outfit.

With two games to go against just one for Rovers, and a superior goal difference, Thurrock are still odds-on for the crown - particularly as they visit struggling Clapton tomorrow night. Wakering end their season at home to Epsom and Ewell on Saturday.

In the Premier Division, St Albans's 4-0 thrashing by Enfield means both Billericay Town and Canvey go into their final games on Saturday with outside hopes of finishing third.

If Saints had won last night, neither local side would have been able to finish higher than fourth.

In the Essex Senior League, Bowers United start a hectic schedule of three games in four days tonight when Sawbridgeworth visit Crown Avenue.
