Police are appealing for help after they recovered a £10,000 haul of items recovered after a spate of burglaries in the Woodside Estate area north of London Road, Benfleet.

They are now trying to reunite the stolen goods with their rightful owners. Det Con Geoff Herbert from Rayleigh CID said: "There are items of jewellery, a collection of valuable matchbox lorries and cars, electrical items like industrial disc cutters and lots of compact discs.

"In general it is a mixture of what you would find in most peoples' homes." The goods were found in a car and a house.

Anyone who thinks any of the items might be theirs should contact Det Con Geoff Herbert or Simon Dovaston at Rayleigh on 01268 775533.
