A musician, paralysed in a freak electrical accident, and his family are gaining invaluable new information about his condition while in the USA.

Justin Lunnissis currently at a conference in Tennessee organised by an organisation called Lightning Strike and Electric Shock Survivors International.

Mr Lunniss, also known by his stage name of Justin Jay, flew across the Atlantic with his parents Michael and Jenny last week.

Agent for the Colchester performer, Karen Waddy, said yesterday: "I had another phone call from America at 3.40 pm yesterday.

"The family have learnt a great deal more about Justin's injuries than they ever thought possible. They are overwhelmed by the whole experience at the moment."

Miss Waddy said the family have already booked a hotel room so they can return to the conference next year.

And Mr Lunniss, a guitarist and singer who regularly performs at Essex venues, has been asked to go to a specialist clinic for treatments.

But Miss Waddy stressed that this would depend on family and friends raising more money to enable him to achieve these things.

Hundreds of pounds were raised so Mr Lunniss could go to the current conference.

Miss Waddy said television company The Discovery Channel, which was filming at the event, had picked up on his story.

Mr Lunniss received a massive electric shock in 1988 when his guitar and microphone short-circuited, resulting in him losing the use of his left leg.
