The high seas await a first-time sailor embarking on the challenge of a lifetime.

Jane Tolaini, 31, of Hill House Close, Billericay, has been living with progressive multiple sclerosis for five years, but that is not going to stop her taking to the water.

She is one of more than 100 people affected by MS who will be taking part in a 3,000 mile relay voyage around the UK, French and Dutch coasts.

The 46-foot yacht, Multiple Challenge, will take a crew of six, a first mate and a skipper on 23 legs, including two off shore races.

Jane said: "I have never sailed before, but I'm always game for trying something new.

"I'm looking forward to the challenge."

Multiple Challenge gives people with MS an opportunity to learn to sail and take an active part in voyages through the UK's coastal waters, and further afield.

However, it also plays an important role in raising awareness of MS and vital sponsorship money.

Since 1992 crew members have raised more than £100,000 to fund research by the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
